Bienen produzieren Honig und sie brauchen ihn für ihre Ernährung. Sie haben diese Brillante Methode entwickelt, welche ihnen erlaubt Honig, für Zeiten der Not, zu lagern. Ihre Cleverness und ihr soziales Verhalten dürfen nicht unterschätzt werden, So… so viel Einsatz, so viele Flüge um Nektar zu sammeln, so harte Arbeit ihn zu lagern… und dann kommt der Imker und stielt ihnen den Honig?? Was? Ungerechtigkeiten und vergeudete Arbeitszeit haben mich schon immer geärgert und eines Tages fragte ich mich (und daraufhin Basti, wie immer) ‚Sorry, aber wovon ernähren sich die Bienen wenn WIR IHNEN den Honig wegnehmen??‘.

Schon jetzt kann ich dir sagen: keine Sorge! 🙂 wie wir bereits hier Honig: eine Welt voller Wunder! – Gaeblini beschrieben haben, wird ein guter Imker, immer sein bestes geben um sich um seine Bienen zu kümmern. Am wichtigsten ist jedoch das sie nicht den ganzen Honig entnehmen. Nachdem du jetzt beruhigt sein kannst, atme tief durch und dann finden wir mehr darüber heraus.

Weißt du das es einen Honigraum gibt?

Bevor ich Basti traf hatte ich nie die Gelegenheit eine Bienenbeute nah genug zu betrachten. Gesehen hatte ich bereits welche. Allerdings nur im Fernsehen oder wären Spaziergängen von weiter weg. Nichtsdestotrotz niemals aus so kurzer Entfernung. Was konnte ich aus der Distanz erkennen? Mmm eigentlich nur Kisten, nicht zu groß, oft recht bunt, meistens auf einer Art Ständer und sonst nicht mehr. Es lagen Welten zwischen diesem einfachen betrachten aus der Ferne und dem wirklichen verstehen der dahinter verborgenen Welt. Von welcher Welt ich spreche, fragst du dich? Die Welt der Bienen und natürlich auch die der Imker. Wie ich bereits in Welche Beute sollte ich wählen und warum? – Gaeblini beschrieb, besteht die Bienenbeute aus Kisten. Stimmt. Doch es gibt unterschiedliche, wie zum Beispiel Honigraum und Brutraum Kisten. Honig kannst du in jeder Kiste der Bienenbeute finden, auch im Brutraum. Bienen ernähren sich und ihre Brut davon, also wollen sie etwas davon immer um sich haben. Sprechen wir von der Kiste welche Honigraum heißt. Darin finden wir immer nur Honig und nur von dort wird der Imker die Waben mit Honig entnehmen.

lass uns erstmal einen Schritt zurück gehen…

Das Bienenvolk, als Superorganismus, wächst und schrumpft während des Jahres. In etwa als wären Bienen die Zellen eines größeren und sehr gut organisierten Organismus (deshalb auch Superorganismus). Also, das Volk wächst und schrumpft… was heißt das? Nun, nichts anderes als das, in bestimmten Jahreszeiten, sehr viele Bienen ein Volk bilden, sie sehr Aktiv sind, die Königin Eier legt als ob es kein Morgen gäbe (den ganzen Tag lang und das jeden Tag) und die Flugbienen immer unterwegs sind um Nektar zu sammeln. Während in anderen, kälteren, Jahreszeiten viel weniger Bienen in der Bienenbeute leben. Sie halten keinen Winterschlaf, allerdings sind wie in einer Art Bereitschaftsmodus. Sie verlassen die Bienenbeute nicht, sie bleiben eng beieinander und ernähren sich von ihren Vorräten. In Sommer und Frühling wachsen die Völker und die Anzahl der Bienen pro Volk erhöht sich drastisch. In Herbst und Winter, wenn es draußen Kalt ist und die Natur schläft, verringert sich die Zahl der Bienen, das Volk schrumpft also

Bienen sind überaus intelligent, die Menschen finden sich allerdings nicht weit dahinter. Nachdem Imker diese Wachstums- und Schrumpfungsprozesse beobachtet haben, bemerkten sie auch das Bienen ihre Behausungen bevorzugt in kleinen Hohlräumen einrichteten. In der Natur würden sie Beispielsweise in einem hohlen Baum leben. Diese Erkenntnis nutzten Imker um etwas ähnliches zu erfinden. Etwas, worin sich die Bienen wohl fühlen während sie gehalten werden. Bienen sind robust und flexibel, deshalb haben sie die Menschengemachten Hohlräume akzeptiert. Dennoch muss der Imker Aufmerksam bleiben und versuchen die richtigen Entscheidungen zu treffen. Seine Handlungen sollten immer dem natürlichen Prozess innerhalb den Bienenvolkes folgen.

wie meinst du das? ich verstehe nicht wie…

Es mag verwirrend klingen, ich versuche es an einem Beispiel zu erklären: im Winter – wenn es kalt ist, es nicht so viele Bienen gibt und es ihr einziges Ziel ist, die Temperatur hoch zu halten – gibt es keinen Grund die Honigraum Kiste dort zu belassen. Dies würde den Raum in der Bienenbeute nur unnötig vergrößern. Dadurch würde es für die Bienen, als Superorganismus, zum Problem werden, das nächste Frühjahr zu erleben, da sie mehr Raum „zu heizen“ hätten.

Im Frühjahr jedoch – wenn alles blüht, der Frühling Einzug gehalten hat und die Bienenbeuten voller leben sind – fügen wir die Honigraumkiste wieder auf, damit der Superorganismus wachsen kann. Wenn die Völker Stark sind haben sie viel Honig in ihren Brutraumkisten und wo soll die Königin ihre Eier ablegen wenn alles voller hing ist weil die Honigraumkiste fehlt? Richtig, jetzt benötigen wir diese Kiste!

Allerdings heißt dies nicht, dass der erste Frühlingstag zu der Schlussfolgerung führen soll die Honigraumkiste aufzusetzen. Es gibt noch immer zu wenige Bienen und das bedeutet das die Völker immer noch nicht stark genug sind. Es wäre zu früh für die Honigraumkiste und würde keinen sinn machen sie schon jetzt zu benutzen.

hm…Und woran kann ich erkennen das es Zeit dafür wird???

nun, da es auch davon abhängig ist wo sich eure Bienenbeuten befinden, gibt es dafür keine allgemeingültige Aussage. Verglichen mit Bergamo (wo ich herkomme) ist hier in Sachsen alles etwa 2 Wochen in Verzug. Damit meine ich das Wetter, die Blütezeiten verschiedener Pflanzen und die Aktivitäten der Bienen. Dabei, auch das kann sich von Jahr zu Jahr und Region zu Region unterscheiden. Es gibt kein Datum, um es im Kalender zu markieren. Wetterbedingungen, Blütenstände und die Bedingungen in den Bienenbeuten, diese drei Punkte gehören zusammen, nicht wahr? Aus diesem Grund hat Basti schon hier Basti: ein neugieriger Junge wird zum Universalimker – Gaeblini angemerkt, dass es besser ist diesen Pfad als Imker zusammen mit einem erfahrenen Imkerpaten zu beginnen. Hierbei kannst du die nötige Geduld, Erfahrung und Beobachtungsgabe erhalten und fördern. Es sollte nichts Improvisiert und unterschätzt werden!

gehen wir zurück zu Bienen, dass wir ihren Honig wegnehmen …

Fassen wir zusammen: Bienen haben immer Honig in ihrer Brutraumkiste und der Honig in der Honigraumkiste ist ihr Überschuss. Es liegt einfach in ihrer Natur schier endlose Vorräte anzulegen. Jetzt denkst du sicherlich: „Ok, im Sommer ist es Überschuss aber wenn es Winter wird und sie die Bienenbeuten nicht mal verlassen werden? Haben sie dann immer noch genug?“ Die Antwort ist Ja! Ein guter Imker wird immer sein/ihr möglichstes tun und für jede Eventualität berechnen damit es seinen/ihren Bienen an nichts fehlt. Weil er/sie für seine/ihre Bienen sorgt.

Müssen wir ihnen diesen Honig wegnehmen?

Doch Bienen haben nicht nur ihre eigenen Vorräte für den Winter, sie werden auch für den entnommenen Honig entschädigt. Wir – Opa Heinz kümmert sich normalerweise darum – bereiten so etwas wie einen Sirup aus Wasser und Zucker. Dies stellt einen guten Energielieferanten für den Winter dar. Natürlich ist es nicht einfach herauszufinden wie viel Futter jedes einzelne Bienenvolk für den Winter benötigt. Es gibt viele verschiedene Faktoren wie zum Beispiel die zahlenmäßige Stärke des Volkes, wie viel Platz haben diese zur Verfügung und wie viel Honig haben sie bereits. Du musst auch vorsichtig sein, nicht zu viel zu füttern, weil die Bienen im Frühjahr den Platz für Brut benötigen.

Warte, Warte… befindet sich dann auch dieser Sirup im Honig?

Nein, keine Sorge, wenigstens so weit es uns betrifft nicht. Bedenke, dass wir zum Ende des Sommers die Honigraumkisten entfernen und nur die Brutraumkiste(n) übrig bleiben. Dieses Ersatzfutter ist nur in den Brutraumkiste(n) zu finden, niemals in der Honigraumkiste. Das Futter ist außerdem nur dafür gedacht die Bienen den Winter überleben zu lassen, da Bienen eher verhungern als erfrieren.

Unglücklicherweise ist es nicht immer so einfach und schön: es kann passieren dass Imker Völker über den Winter verlieren. Wir zum Beispiel haben im letzten ungewöhnlich langen Winter 3 Völker nicht bis in den Frühling retten können. Diese waren bereits im Herbst recht klein und schwach. Im allgemeinen sollte der Winter allerdings kein Problem sein wenn der Winter nicht zu lang, die Vorräte ausreichend sowie der Superorganismus stark und gesund ist. Am Ende ist es eine Mischung unterschiedlichster Faktoren welche mit der erforderlichen Erfahrung ausgeglichen werden können (außerdem kann die kleine Portion Glück nicht schaden, wie eigentlich immer!).
