Cri, schreibst du wirklich einen Artikel über die Etiketten der Honiggläser? Ist das notwendig? Jep, und ehrlich gesagt habe ich einiges darüber zu berichten. Wusstest du, dass es Vorschriften gibt, darüber welche Informationen aufgeführt sein müssen? Regeln gibt es vor allem für Nahrungsmitteletiketten, hier sprechen wir im speziellen über das Honigetikett. Bestimmte Details müssen aufgeführt werden und wenn sich der Produzent nicht dafür interessiert, kann es sogar als illegal gelten. Dabei gibt es Richtlinien und Gesetze auf nationaler aber auch auf europäischer Ebene. Ich weiß dass ihr alle aufgeklärte Konsumenten sein wollt und euch diese Dinge deshalb auch interessieren. Lest einfach weiter und achtet das nächste mal, wenn ihr ein Honigglas in euren Händen haltet, auf diese Details.

Ist ein Etikett wirklich notwendig?

Lasst uns zunächst festhalten dass ihr kein Etikett benötigt wenn ihr nur für euch, eure Familie oder ein paar Freunde produziert. Wenn ihr jedoch beginnt ernsthaft zu produzieren und zu verkaufen, ist ein Etikett vorgeschrieben. Dabei spielt das Format keine Rolle, allerdings müssen ein paar Informationen enthalten sein. Manche müssen aufgeführt werden und bei anderen ist es eure Entscheidung ob ihr sie verwendet oder nicht.

Ein paar grundlegende Hinweise

Ein gutes Honigetikett muss Kriterien erfüllen um dem Beruf als Imker, dem Konsumenten und dem Produkt gerecht zu werden. Was ein Honigetikett unbedingt enthalten sollte, lernte ich während eines Honig-Webinars der Expertin Licia Piana, dies wäre

  • Wahrheit: was aufgeführt wird muss wahr sein – Punkt.
  • Genauigkeit: es ist zum Beispiel nicht OK, wenn “Honig aus den Bergen” geschrieben wird. Dies ist zu vage. Du kannst eine Stadt, einen Fluss oder einen Berg benennen ansonsten besser nichts.
  • Nachprüfbar: Erwähne keine Eigenschaften die es mit mit jedem anderen Honig gemein hat (zum Beispiel sollte nicht geschrieben werden “ Honig von Bienen”, es ergibt auch keinen Sinn da Honig nur von Bienen erzeugt wird).

Welche Merkmale auf einem Honigetikett enthalten sein müssen?

Dies sind sie:

  • Das Ursprungsland, in welchem der Honig geerntet wurde. Dies kann durch Nennung des Landes (Deutschland) oder durch das entsprechende Adjektiv(deutscher-) erfolgen.
  • Das Wort Honig: der Name des Produktes muss aufgeführt werden. In unserem Fall also Honig. Nichtsdestotrotz, wenn wir den Honig verändern, zum Beispiel durch Zugabe von Mandeln, dürfen wir ihn NICHT Mandelhonig nennen. Warum? Weil das hinzufügen von Zutaten etwas kreiert, was nicht mehr als Honig bezeichnet werden darf.
  • Das Netto Gewicht. Also der Inhalt des Glases.
  • Mindesthaltbarkeitsdatum: das MHD sagt euch bis zu welchem Datum ihr den Honig aufbrauchen solltet. Denn wenn ihr den Honig Ordnungsgemäß lagert behält er alle guten Eigenschaften wenigstens bis zu diesem Datum. Erinnert ihr euch als wir beschrieben haben, dass Honig nicht verfällt.
  • Der Name oder die Firma des Verkäufers Das muss nicht auch der Produzent sein, Dieser ist tatsächlich nicht unbedingt zu benennen.
  • Seriennummer: Meist handelt es sich hier um eine Zeichenfolge welche der Produzent vergibt um die Charge eindeutig zuordnen zu können. Wenn das MHD für jede Charge variiert ist auch diese Seriennummer nicht zwingend erforderlich.

Was sind die optionalen Hinweise auf Etiketten?

Unter den freiwilligen Angaben findet sich zum Beispiel auch der Ursprung. Das bedeutet, dass wir nicht zwingend einen speziellen Ort angeben müssen (zum Beispiel, Honig aus dem Elbtal), oder Bioimkerei. Nicht einmal was die Bienen gesammelt haben ist unbedingt anzugeben. Dabei, Wenn du Akazienhonig kaufst, fragst du dich dann nicht auch woher der Imker wissen kann dass die Bienen Akazien Nektar gesammelt haben?

Wie kann der Imker wissen was die Bienen gesammelt haben?

Nun, der Imker hat seine Bienenbeuten zuvor an einen Platz gebracht an dem zum Beispiel viele Akazien blühen. Wenn dann die Blütezeit vorbei ist werden die Honigräume entfernt und geerntet. Natürlich werden die Bienen nicht nur Akaziennektar gesammelt haben. Ab diesem Punkt wird dann ein Labor Proben des Honigs untersuchen um die Hauptbestandteile zu ermitteln.

Alternativ bist du mit der Bezeichnung “Blütenhonig” immer auf der sicheren Seite. Auch weil es keine Regelungen für die Bestandteile von Blütenhonigen gibt. Wichtig ist auch bei Blütenhonigen keine Bestandteile zu benennen (zum Beispiel mit: “überwiegend Akazienhonig”) wenn kein vorheriger Labortest erfolgt ist. Ansonsten könnte es als Irreführung zu einer Geldstrafe führen. Wenn du es auf deinen Etiketten aufführen möchtest dann solltest du das Testergebnis eines Labors vorliegen haben. Ansonsten wäre es besser es nicht zu spezifizieren. Eine kleine nützliche Info, welche ohne Probleme aufgeführt werden kann, wäre die Jahreszeit der Ernte. Zum Beispiel Sommer- oder Frühlingsblütenhonig.
