Rubiamo il miele alle api…é davvero cosí?

Dai ammettilo, diccelo pure senza problemi…anche a te almeno una volta nella vita é capitato anche solo di pensare: ma poverine, che gli rubano il miele! Poi magari te lo mangiavi comunque, anche di gusto peró ecco…per una frazione di secondo il pensiero c’é stato!

Ma é davvero cosí? Davvero rubiamo il miele alle api, sfruttandole senza sosta?

Adesso ti racconto una cosa…

Non molto tempo una follower su instagram mi ha contattato perché una influencer vegana che seguiva (giuro, non so chi sia e giuro, nulla contro i vegani, anzi – ognuno é assolutamente libero di mangiare quello che gli va) sosteneva, anche piuttosto agguerrita, che le api venivano sfruttate deliberatamente dagli apicoltori, rovinandole, dandogli in cambio acqua e zucchero. Questa mia follower – che ringrazio infinitamente di cuore sia perché mi ha pensata sia perché si é voluta informare meglio – mi ha chiesto a quel punto ‘Mi spieghi cosa succede se sottraiamo il miele alle api?’. Mi ha girato anche le principali argomentazioni della influencer a sostegno del fatto che sí, rubiamo il miele alle api. Andiamo al punto: diamoci un’occhiata insieme!

„Le api vengono sfruttate per produrre il miele“

Di contorno a questa frase ci sta bene l’immagine di un apicoltore con una frusta che sbraita alle povere apine di fare di piú, che non basta, guai a indugiare un secondo di piú su un fiore ´ehi tu che chiacchieri lí con quel fuco!´. Vi posso assicurare che le api non vengono sfruttate per produrre il miele. Loro lo producono certo, e si impegnano anche molto, ma ne producono in quantitá infinite, una valanga, é lo scopo delle loro giornate. L’ape – come ben risaputo – é laboriosa e durante la bella stagione ci sguazza in quell’andirivieni tra una risorsa nettarifera e l’altra. Se non ci fosse l’apicoltore ad un certo punto rallenterebbe il ritmo, mentre prendendone il miele, continuano a fare scorte ma non é che ne soffre, fa parte della loro natura. Dietro ogni giro di fiore di un’ape, non c’é un apicoltore inferocito che pesa la sacca melaria una volta che la bottinatrice é di ritorno.

„ok, ma a loro serve il miele, mentre noi potremmo farne a meno tranquillamente“

Questo é vero, le api ne hanno proprio bisogno e per noi non é un bene primario per la sopravvivenza. Tuttavia, prelevare del miele dagli alveari non equivale a uccidere le api, farle morire di fame o farle sopravvivere dandogli in cambio qualcosa di scadente. C’é da dire dopotutto che se si vuole del miele quella é l´unica fonte possibile e il buon apicoltore in cambio se ne prende amorevolmente cura. Insomma, possiamo tranquillamente convivere: le api con il loro miele e noi mangiandone un po’. Non é che rubiamo il miele alle api, io lo vedo piú come un bel momento di condivisione, uno scambio reciproco. Un dare e avere, nel rispetto e nell’amore verso la natura.

Qua mi immagino un apicoltore con la faccia da scienziato pazzo che tra un tic nervoso e l’altro inietta dello zucchero con una pipetta in ogni singola cella di ogni singolo favo. Cosí, come se non ci fossero abbastanza cose da fare in apiario. Cosa c’é di vero in questa argomentazione? É vero si somministra dell’alimentazione aggiuntiva (del candito o dello sciroppo fatto con zucchero e acqua, ad esempio) ma solo in un determinato periodo dell’anno e solo per aver quella certezza in piú che le api abbiano abbastanza per sopravvivere all’inverno. Non se ne mettono quintali, é un qualcosa in piú, l’ape ha comunque ancora del suo miele. Anche perché é impossibile prelevarne tutto. Ne avevamo parlato in modo ancora piú approfondito qui.

Direi che no, non rubiamo il miele alle api…

che poi, pensaci bene! Qualsiasi buon apicoltore non sfrutta le api, ANZI, se ne prende cura, sta molto attento a quando smiela, come e quanto. Anche perché, passione a parte, se non lo facesse andrebbe contro i suoi stessi interessi no? Sarebbe un tirarsi la zappa sui piedi sia perché perderebbe le sue api che la qualitá del miele offerto. Se poi per gusto personale o meno, si preferisce evitare di mangiare il miele é cosa ben diversa, l’importante é non far circolare un messaggio sbagliato. Altrettanto importante é informarsi bene. Non mi stancheró mai di dirlo: fate domande, visitate apiari, chiedete tutto quello che volete agli apicoltori e sosteneteli, perché in fin dei conti, in questo mondo dove ormai le api selvatiche sono gran poche e quelle rimaste sono per la maggior parte – che piaccia o no- quelle degli apiari questo é un buon modo per sostenere anche le api.
