2021 – l’anno delle sciamature. Lo potremmo tranquillamente soprannominare cosí per quel che ci riguarda. Ci prendiamo una pausa dall’argomento miele per spostarci su un’altra sfaccettatura del mondo delle api: la sciamatura. Quest’anno ne abbiamo avute veramente tante, al punto che mi é venuto da pensare: non é che continuano a sciamare perché vogliono che ne parli sul blog?? Potrebbe essere, perché no! Nel dubbio, le voglio accontentare!
Sciamatura: mai sentita prima d’ora?
Altra parola entrata nel mio vocabolario (anche italiano intendo) da quando mi sono avvicinata a questo mondo. Conoscevo sciame, sí, vale a dire: un gruppo di api. Una di quelle parole che ti insegnano alle elementari (o medie?) per spiegare i sostantivi collettivi. Ovvero quei nomi al singolare che indicano un gruppo, spesso di animali: lo stormo, il gregge, il branco, lo sciame,…ma la sciamatura, lo ammetto, mi era nuova! Anche a te non suona poi cosí famigliare? Nessun problema, ti prendo per mano e te ne mostro pure una, la prima a cui ho assistito!
Prima di tutto: che caspita é la sciamatura?
Giusto, non lasciamoci prendere troppo dall’entusiasmo. Passettino indietro e iniziamo.
Spesso quando si parla di api, si parla di superorganismo. L’uomo nasce, cresce, si riproduce e muore. La stessa similitudine per il mondo apistico non sarebbe tanto per l’ape, quanto per il superorganismo. Che si intende con questa parola? La societá delle api, il gruppone di api che si fa in 4 e anche piú, per andare avanti, per sopravvivere all’ inverno, per raccogliere quanto miele possibile, per aiutarsi a vicenda in tutto questo e cosí via. Nel superorganismo ogni ape ha il suo compito molto preciso e sono tutte importantissime. Grazie a questa organizzazione spettacolare il superorganismo continua a vivere. Adesso arrivo al punto – come si riproduce questo superorganismo? Con la sciamatura!
Ti ricordi quando qui ma cosa mangiano le api, se gli portiamo via il miele?? – Gaeblini, avevamo detto che il superorganismo si contrae e si espande? Ecco, all’apice della sua espansione avviene proprio la sciamatura.
La prima sciamatura non si scorda mai
Io scrivo, scrivo, scrivo…ma che scrivo sempre? Bo, annoto idee, pensieri, cose che succedono,…quasi come se avessi l’ansia di dimenticarmele, ma in realtá non é ansia, é piú il piacere della vita. Me lo scrivo e lí rimane e ogni volta che voglio rivivere quel momento, lo ritrovo lí, per me e per chiunque altro lo voglia leggere. Ho un libricino anche per i nostri progetti apistici, ovviamente. Proprio lí ho annotato la mia prima sciamatura! Era il 31 maggio 2020, il giorno dopo il mio 29esimo compleanno. Il mio primissimo compleanno lontano dalla mia famiglia, a causa del lockdown. Tuttavia, da questa situazione sono riuscita a vivere un’esperienza per me nuova e unica come questa.
“Si incomincia ad invecchiare quando si smette di imparare” – Beh é stato sicuramente un bel modo per inaugurare l’anno in piú appena compiuto! 🙂

Se c’é una cosa che mi é super chiara é che qua il tempo cambia in un nano secondo, un attimo prima c’é un sole che spacca i sassi – battito di palpebre e via – diluvio universale e 10 gradi. Alla luce di ció, col sole di oggi e i suoi 30 gradi, non abbiamo potuto rinunciare a una bella passeggiata + merenda. Mentre si sorseggiava del buon The, vedevo Basti un po’ nervoso/pensieroso. Mi diceva che appena finito lí, doveva assolutamente ispezionare le arnie perché con questo caldo erano sicuramente al 100% delle loro capacitá lavorative e ci poteva essere una sciamatura…Io, da brava ignorante, gli ho chiesto come faceva a capire se c’é una sciamatura in corso o meno (voglio dire, intorno alle arnie ci sono sempre un sacco di api, come fai a capire che alcune si stanno allontanando con la vecchia ape regina dalla propria arnia, per andare altrove?).
“Quando il cielo é scuro, non per le nuvole, per un ammasso di api…per giunta il suono é davvero molto intenso…insomma, lo capisci quando c’é una sciamatura!”.
“Ma poi quando scappano cosa fai?? Come fai a riprenderle?”.
“Le ‘calmi’ e le guidi, magari verso il proprio giardino o un cespuglio nelle vicinanze, con una canna dell’acqua, quando si sono stabilite da qualche parte, le si riprende…”.
Ormai la mia curiositá si era piú che svegliata, stavo per proseguire con le mie domande quando nonno Heinz ci interrompe…chiamatelo sesto senso, chiamatela autogufata…ma: ecco a voi la mia prima sciamatura!
E via: tutti di corsa fuori a placare le apine in fuga!
Ecco Basti, da prode cavaliere inforcare la sua arma – una potentissima (e comunissima) canna dell’acqua – e dirigerla verso le api in fuga! Era proprio vero: una nuvola di api dal ronzio intensissimo! Se da un lato io ero tra l’estasiato e il sotto shock, Basti era sereno e concentrato con il suo drago sputa acqua e nonno Heinz osservava un po’ nervoso ripetendo di tanto in tanto ´Scheiße!´. Ma perché questa annaffiata di api? Si tratta di un vero e proprio inganno: le apine pensano stia piovendo e si vedono costrette a posarsi sul primo ramo o ristoro disponibile (geniale!). Tempo un quarto d’ora e sono adagiate sul ramo di un alberello della vicina (“Ma i vicini non si arrabbiano?!” “No no, tanto lo sanno che ci pensiamo noi a recuperarle!” “Ah ok!”). Come qualsiasi lavoro legato all’apicoltura anche qua bisogna agire con calma e pazienza…lasciamo stabilizzarsi le apine…”ci si rivede quando siete piú tranquille!“
Allora com’é stato questo assaggio di sciamatura? Sicuramente diverso da quello del miele, ma speriamo altrettanto interessante 🙂 Continueremo a parlarne, ma se hai delle domande in particolare, dicci pure e ci prenderemo cura di rispondere con gli articoli successivi.
